Carlo Muscat Quartet – That’s About It
Carlo Muscat is recognised as one of the most promising voices on the European jazz scene, establishing himself as a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, culminating in the release of seven albums under his name. On the 10th of December, the Kyiv-based saxophonist heads into the studio in Kyiv to record his new project, That’s About It. This album presents a collection of original works that reimagine the jazz ballad tradition. Where most ballad albums revisit well-known standards, this project introduces original material, written to emphasise melody, atmosphere, and introspection, connected by a sense of calm and reflection. Influences from jazz, chamber music, and European lyricism shape the writing, giving each piece a distinctive narrative while keeping a cohesive sound across the album. With this release, Muscat expands the contemporary ballad repertoire, positioning himself as a sensitive saxophonist and a composer who is dedicated to adding original works to the contemporary jazz repertoire. For this concert and studio date, Muscat will be joined by Oleksandr Mashovets on guitar, Yehor Abramov on double bass, and Pavlo Halytskyi on drums.
