Oleksandr Malyshev - Space Quintet

Oleksandr Malyshev – pianist, composer, bright representative of Ukrainian jazz scene. The hallmark of his playing is a refined taste, honed through many years of collaboration with known jazzmen of Ukraine. He has performed with the quintets of Dennis Adu and Alina Zalozna, the quartets of Kostiantyn Ionenko and Viktor Pavelko, cross-genre bands DElectro and Bitlo, as well as The Impressions Jazz Quintet.
Malyshev music is highly thematic and often infused with irony, even within its serious musical language. His debut album, Live at 32 Jazz Club (2025), received glowing reviews from audiences, critics, and fellow musicians.
Malyshev’s most recent project – Space Quintet which is also the title of his upcoming release – serves as the first chapter of the duology
Taste and Space. Oleksandr often jokes that this quintet was sent to him from space, referring to the astonishing and innovative playing
of its first-class musicians. However, the word ‘space’ also appeals to its other meanings—room, amplitude, place, and environment.
